overclocked intel arc a380 graphics card shows impressive performance uplifts

A recent YouTube video by overclocking enthusiast Pro Hi-Tech highlighted the Intel Arc A380 GPU and how it manages to overclock.

The Intel A380 offered remarkable performance on elevated power boosts and voltage offsets. The Pro Hi-Tech scores were quite impressive. You would almost not notice that it is a lower-level Intel graphics card.

The Russian YouTube overclocking specialist used a unique technique to overclock the Intel A380 graphics card. The graphics card was modified by voltage offsetting and power targeting using Intel’s graphics software because overclocking programs like MSI Afterburner do not yet support third-party GPU vendors. Pro Hi-Tech did not change the core clocks on the graphic card.

The voltage offset was set to +0.255mv, and the YouTuber put the “GPU performance Boost” setting to 55 percent.

With a small benefit of four to six percent, the alterations’ outcomes permitted the Intel Arc A380 to display a GPU core overclocking of 100 to 150 MHz. Power utilization levels raised by 43 to 57 percent, from about 35W to as much as 55W. The next-generation graphics card’s performance seemed to have been limited by Intel.

Six games were benchmark tested on the modified Intel A380 GPU:

  • Cyberpunk 2077
  • Doom Eternal
  • God of War
  • Rainbow Six Siege
  • Watch Dogs Legion
  • World of Tanks

PRO Hi-Tech, during the testing, turned on resizable BAR, which also boosted the graphics performance significantly. To clarify the performance differences between the two cards, NVIDIA’s GTX 1650 GPU, comparable to the Intel Arc A380 GPU’s factory settings, was included in the final outcomes.

Readers will notice that performance improvements in Doom Eternal exceeded 60%, although improvements in World of Tanks and Watch Dogs Legion were merely 25%. The overclocked card, which had a voltage offset and a higher power limit, enhanced performance by 37%, according to the average or geometric gain displayed in the above chart.

Another testing done on the Intel Arc A380 GPU indicates that the drivers and optimizations utilized are the fundamental core of the graphics card. The graphics card’s overclocked totals in the video hit a maximum power usage of 55W. Intel officially mentions the A380’s TDP as 75W on the website for the device.

There have also been reports of constraints in many games played on the Intel Arc A380 related to driver optimization issues. Turning on ReBAR hasn’t made things much better.

Many things will be discussed: China was selected as the test platform for the new graphics card. It is hoped that Intel will study the most recent performance information that has started to surface and consider what is happening to find a solution to the increasing list of problems with their new graphics card. We can witness these leaked videos and details for new technology that hasn’t yet reached consumers’ hands since some people have access to those forthcoming cards before the official release.
