The first 3D V-Cache chips with a formally recognized activated design for overclocking are AMD’s Ryzen 7000 X3D CPUs.
AMD Confirms Ryzen 7000 X3D “3D V-Cache” CPUs Overclocking Support, Unlocked Design for Overclockers
While AMD wasn’t entirely clear about overclocking assistance at launch, they have now essentially confirmed that the Ryzen 7000 X3D “3D V-Cache” CPUs referenced an unlocked design, which would imply that customers will be able to adapt the BCLK as they wish. Even though AMD has “Unlocked” OC assistance classified, they still need social to use auto-tuning options like Curve Optimizer with PBO.
The highest-rated CPU performance is delivered by Curve Optimizer, which AMD advises users to use. However, difficult intensity overclocking is restricted, just like the previous generation’s Zen 3D V-Cache chips. The red team claims that the power supplies have increased this time, reaching 1.4V instead of the 1.1V limit on the Ryzen 7 5800X3D CPU. There is a tough lock, just like the previous generation, because the chip’s layered L3 cache is extremely sensitive to elevated temperatures and extra voltage. It is feasible that the chips could break if these are overhauled. This means that AMD Ryzen 7000 X3D CPUs must deal with the low voltage to utilize PBO and Curve Optimizer.
We can expect some respectable overclock from the AMD Ryzen 7000 X3D “3D V-Cache” CPUs because 1.4V remains a lot of amperages to work with. This update from AMD comes a few weeks after the company had classified the incorrect release date for the CPUs, which was the 14th of February, and had to state the error.
