NVIDIA unveiled their GeForce RTX 4090 & RTX 4080 graphics cards, with prices ranging from $899 to $1599 US. But, the pricing outside of North America seems to be somewhat higher.

The new NVIDIA GeForce, RTX 40 Graphics Cards appear for the EU to be high, and costs are inflated compared to North America

The most recent RTX 40 series cards have been discovered to be significantly more expensive in their press briefing for the European region than in their presser for the North American market. According to Andreas Schilling, editor of Hardwareluxx:

The three most recent NVIDIA flagship graphics cards would cost the equivalent, it was stated during the conference:

  • $1599 GeForce RTX 4090
  • $1199 for a GeForce RTX 4080 16GB
  • $899 for a GeForce RTX 4080 12GB

Meanwhile, based on the prices listed by Andreas Schilling on Twitter earlier today, German buyers will need to invest the following (costs have been rounded to the closest US dollar) for the latest GPUs from NVIDIA:

  • GeForce RTX 4090 24GB costs 1949 Euros ($1943; an increase of 22%).
  • GeForce RTX 4080 16GB: $1465 (+22% Difference) or 1469 Euros
  • GeForce RTX 4080 12GB: 1099 EUR ($1096), a difference of 22%.

In Germany, prices are about $300–$350 more expensive than in the US. The extra VAT, roughly 20% for the majority of hardware devices in the European region, may be a significant factor. This is also consistent with the average 22% price increase between US and EU rates. If you live in any European country, this, combined with the increased electricity prices, would make playing a costly hobby.

This is terrible news for a sizable EU consumer looking forward to purchasing NVIDIA’s newest and finest products. The pricing crisis has hardest hurt the EU, and prices for current GPUs have not yet stabilized. It appears that the condition will remain the same for this region of the world for a while as even present cards are not seeing the same amount of cost reductions in the EU market.
