NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 16 GB GPU Sees Early Discount in Europe, Reflecting the Usual Trend for New Graphics Card Launches.

The release of NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 16 GB GPUs stirred controversy due to the lack of official review coverage. Even in NVIDIA’s own benchmarks, the performance difference between the 16 GB and 8 GB models was not significant, yet the former was priced $100 higher. Unsurprisingly, the card failed to generate much interest, leading to expectations of a price drop. Now, reports indicate that the German retailer Mindfactory has indeed discounted the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 16 GB below its MSRP.

The MSI GeForce RTX 4060 Ti Ventus 3x GPU is currently available at Mindfactory for €519, a €30 reduction from its original launch price of €549. This price drop reflects the lack of traction the GPU has gained in European markets, as anticipated due to its poor reception, lack of marketing, and the absence of a review program. The downward trend in pricing is likely to extend to global markets, and it is possible that we may soon witness the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 16 GB being sold below its initial MSRP of US $499.

The GPU’s lack of sales can be attributed to straightforward reasons. NVIDIA’s own benchmarks revealed only minor single-digit performance gains for the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 16 GB compared to its 8 GB counterpart. Despite having double the VRAM, the card is best suited for 1080p gaming and can manage satisfactory performance at 1440p only with the aid of upscaling technologies like DLSS. While the card excels in Stable Diffusion and AI tasks due to its larger memory capacity, it falls short in the gaming segment, making the $100 price difference from the 8 GB variant unjustifiable.

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 16GB launch has been undeniably disappointing for the company. The card’s chances of improving sales rest heavily on a price correction, but unfortunately, it seems unlikely to happen in this case.
