When reviewing the given pricing, each motherboard is costly compared to its predecessor, but remember that these aren’t the official ASUS X670E & X670 MSRPs, which would be reduced. The ROG Crosshair X670E GENE motherboard, which will have an mATX form factor, and the PRIME X670 series, which will target the general market, are the most intriguing ones on the list. There are undoubtedly more motherboards in the program than those that ASUS has so far officially shown off. These estimated prices also include a significant amount of VAT, a local tax that ranges from 15% to 30% throughout the European region. IPC-Computer, a specialized vendor from Germany, charges a 19% VAT.

Remember that there is just a 14 Euro price difference between the ROG Crosshair X670E Extreme and the ASUS ROG Maximus Z690 Extreme. Therefore, the majority of X670 and X670E motherboards cost the same as or less than their Z690 equivalents—around 100 Euros. However, these price lists appear to be significantly inflated.

ASUS X670E & X670 Motherboards

ASUS intends to provide at least ten motherboards within the ROG, ROG Strix, TUF Gaming, ProArt, and Prime lines. The motherboards that we can now confirm consist of:

  • ASUS ROG Crosshair X670E Extreme
  • ASUS ROG Crosshair X670E HERO
  • ASUS ROG STRIX X670-E WIFI Gaming
  • ASUS PRIME X670E-PRO WiFi
  • ASUS TUF Gaming X670-PLUS WiFi
  • ASUS ProArt X670-Creator WiFi

Now that we’ve covered motherboards let us look at the specific specifications and benefits each device offers.

ASUS ROG Crosshair X670E Extreme

The ROG Crosshair X670E Extreme is ASUS’s best X670E motherboard. The power supply system of this motherboard, which is intended to be the best ROG product available, includes 22 (20+2) Teamed Power Stages rated at 110A, an Infineon ASP2205 PWM controller, and Vishay SIC850 Power Stages. The Alloy Chokes have a 45A rating, while the capacitors have a 10K-hour rating and a 125C maximum temperature barrier. An 8-pin pair powers the AM5 socket, which must supply the Ryzen CPU with over 1000W Power.

With AMD’s EXPO technology, the motherboard has four DDR5 DIMM slots that can accommodate capacities up to 128 GB. Under the DEBUG LED, several useful features, like Power On/Off, Reset, and even a FlexKey button. The motherboard’s overall design is as stunning as one would anticipate, with black heatsinks and covers covering the VRM, PCH, and M.2 slots, as well as an AniMe Matrix, LED display placed above the PCH heatsink and I/O cover.

Two PCIe 5.0 x16 expansion slots and one PCIe 4.0 x4 expansion slot are available. With two Gen 5.0 x4 onboard the motherboard itself, one from the PCIe Gen 5.0 M.2 card (Gen 5.0 x4), and two M.2 slots (1x Gen 5 x4 & 1x Gen 4 x4) on the ROG Zen-Z.2 add-on DIMM, the boards can support up to five M.2 devices. Additionally, the board has a total of 6 SATA III connections. Additionally, to a 6-pin extra connector for USB Type-C 60W power delivery, the motherboard contains a straight ATX power cable (which offers 27W without the connection). There are several I/O features available, including WiFi 6E, 10Gb / 2Gb Ethernet LAN connectors, USB 4.0 ports, and high-quality audio capabilities, to mention a few. The motherboard will be more expensive; we’re speaking about over $600 US.

ASUS ROG Crosshair X670E HERO

The Crosshair X670E HERO, a milder version of the Extreme, is the latest ASUS ROG motherboard that has been officially confirmed thus far. It is expected to cost between $400 and $500 US. It utilizes identical parts to the Extreme and features an 18+2 phase paired VRM architecture. In addition, it provides a premium heatsink and design layout with an integrated Polymo Lighting system over the I/O shield. The board has one PCIe 4.0 x2 slot and two PCIe Gen 5.0 x16 slots for expansion. Five M.2 slots, including two Gen 5.0 x4 slots (one with a PCIe 5.0 M.2 card) and three Gen 4.0 x4 slots, are stated as being supported by the motherboard. In addition, there are six SATA III connections available for storage.

One 2.5 GbE LAN port, two USB 4.0 ports, a tune of USB 3.2 Gen 2 connectors, WiFi 6E support, and a premium audio connector are all included on the motherboard.

ASUS ROG STRIX X670-E WiFi Gaming

The ASUS ROG STRIX X670-E WiFi Gaming features a gaming appearance with black and grey color tones and a 16-phase power design. A small LCD on the I/O cover can be adjusted to your liking. Two PCIe 5.0 x16 and one PCIe Gen 4.0 x16 extension slot are available. Three PCIe Gen 5.0 x4 slots and one PCI-E Gen 4.0 x4 slot should be available as M.2 choices. It appears that the effective M.2 heatsink uses a Heatpipe-based cooling system. Four SATA III ports are available for storage, and users can access a wide range of I/O.

ASUS PRIME X670E-PRO WiFI

The PRIME X670-E PRO WiFi from ASUS also appears to include a 16-phase power delivery system powered by a twin 8-pin socket. The PRIME series’ distinctive white and black look is back, with a futuristic design. Three M.2 heatsinks on the board are compatible with three PCIe Gen 4.0 x4 SSDs and one PCIe Gen 5.0 x4 SSD. In addition, two PCIe Gen 5.0 x16 slots and one PCIe Gen 4.0 x4 slot are available. The motherboard also features four SATA III connectors.

ASUS TUF Gaming X670-PLUS WIFI

The ASUS TIF Gaming X670-PLUS WiFI maintains the 16-phase architecture, but it is also the only motherboard in the group with a single exposed M.2 slot that lacks a heatsink. This one is probably a non-Gen 5.0 port. In addition, there is one PCIe Gen 5.0 x4 slot and three PCIe Gen 4.0 x4 M.2 slots. Finally, there are two Gen 5 x16 extension slots for PCIe and one Gen 4 x4 slot. This board shares the same grey and yellow color scheme as the TUF Gaming motherboards.

ASUS ProArt X670-Creator WiFi

The ASUS ProArt X670-Creator WiFi motherboard boasts an industrial design with its silver and grey aesthetics, 16-phase power delivery, and a lovely acrylic I/O cover. It has two PCIe Gen 5.0 x4 slots, one PCIe Gen 4.0 x4 slot, three PCIe 5.0 x16 slots (x8/x8/x4 electrical), and three PCIe Gen 5.0 x4 slots. In addition to having a WiFi 6E interface, the motherboard can support up to 4 SATA III storage devices. Additionally, a 6-pin connector for 60W USB Type-C charging is present.
